A Poem for My Love on an Important Occasion

I was to write you a poem today

But I made a confession instead.

Without your light my days a sad grey.

Flowers looked upon with dread.

Your gently devoted kindness

Is an infinite source of strength.

Like looking upon a great blue ocean

And feeling captivated by its length.

Your wisdom is an endless well

Of knowledge effortlessly attained.

Like looking upon a great blue ocean

And feeling it’s genius to be ordained.

I come to you a hopeless sinner

Feebly yearning for salvation.

Like looking upon a great blue ocean

And feeling unworthy of it’s creation.
